Prescott Russell Amateur Radio Emergency Service Group
The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) is a volunteer organization of Amateur Radio Operators. Since 1935, ARES has provided radio communica- tions in North America in times of need. Amateur Radio is a unique experi- mental hobby for personal use, which serves to join people, and yet has the power to help save lives and property. In these modern times of cellular phones and the Internet, we take instant communications for granted. During times of emergency, these communication infrastructures can become overloaded and impede normal communications capability.

Apart from the hobby aspect, the Prescott-Russell ARES Group is an important component of the regional emergency plan. Eastern Ontario Trail Blazers (EOTB)
The Eastern Ontario Trail Blazers (EOTB) is a family oriented, non-profit incorporated off-roading club with two big distinctions from most other clubs:

  1. We go off-roading all year round - 4 seasons - that makes us a 4x4x4 club (with trail runs each weekend).
  2. Our members drive all kinds of vehicles - Chevy S10s, Jeeps, Land Rovers, Land Cruisers, Suzuki, etc.

The EOTB, Ottawa Chapter, has their monthly meeting / wing night on the second Monday of every month at Monkey Joe's Restaurant starting at 7 pm. Monkey Joe's is located at the
intersection of Carling and Merivale in the corner of the Westgate Shopping Center.

Come one, come all. Everyone is welcome. Talk trucks, trails and winter modifications.

EOTB Search and Rescue

EOTB is pleased to be an official civilian search and rescue resource at Larose Forest for the Ontario Provincial Police. Our knowledge of the forest coupled with our "go anywhere" equipment, first aid training and GPS equipment will enable us to help out any time the OPP calls. Just part of giving back to the community.
